FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. For any question related to the minister, Minister of State or Permanent Secretary (e.g: request for an appointment, to send a letter/inquiry, to follow up on a letter sent, to get clarification) kindly send an email to the following address:

3. I Would like to apply for an internship at MINAFFET

  • To apply for an internship, kindly send a letter of motivation with a resume (CV) and a copy of your diploma/school transcripts to the Office of the Permanent Secretary at ps@minaffet.gov.rw, copying the Human Resources Unit at hr@minaffet.gov.rw.  

4. I applied for a job or internship at MINAFFET, and I would like to follow up on the status of my application.

  • For job applications through the MIFOTRA website, you can track the progress of your application from the website.

  • For internship application, you can follow up on your request by contacting the Director of Human Resources at hr@minaffet.gov.rw 

5. I would like to contact/obtain a visa for a country that does not have an embassy in Rwanda. How should I proceed? 

  • For a country with an embassy/high commission accredited to Rwanda but based in East Africa (e.g., Nairobi, Kampala, or Dar es Salaam), kindly contact the embassy directly.

  • For a country without an embassy/high commission accredited to Rwanda based in the region, kindly contact the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs for guidance and information. (e.g., for Barbados, visit the website of Barbados Ministry of Foreign Affairs for guidance and contact information.)

  • You can find the contact details of all our Rwandan embassies, high commissions, and missions abroad on MINAFFET’s website, www.minaffet.gov.rw, under the tab Diplomatic Missions—Rwandan Embassies Abroad.

7. How long does the legalization/apostille process take?

  • Up to 3 Days 

  • All legislation of documents to be used in Rwanda or to be used abroad, as well as apostille services, have been moved to the government online service platform: www.irembo.gov.rw under “Foreign Affairs Consular Services.”

  • The Power of Attorney for the transfer of movable and immovable properties. The Power of Attorney on movable and immovable properties will continue to follow the usual legalization process.

8. How do I apply to legalize a document?

  • In line with the Government of Rwanda’s target to digitalize all its services, consular and legalization services (including apostille) are available on the official government portal www.irembo.gov.rw under the “Foreign Affairs Consular Services.” More information and directions are provided on the platform. 

9. I need assistance abroad; who can I reach?

  • Kindly contact the nearest Rwandan embassy/high commission to get assistance. They can facilitate the administrative paper requirements needed to come back home. However, they will not provide financial assistance.

10. I have an issue with a foreign person, entity, company, or diplomatic mission. Who can I reach out to?
